- Development Methodologies (Executive Summary)
The aim of the 'Development Methodologies' workshop is to go back to basics, learn what methods are available and what other organisations are using.
Summary
A development methodology is a framework that is used to structure, plan and control the process of developing software or an information system; this includes the pre-definition of specific deliverables and artefacts that are created and completed by a project team to develop or maintain an application.
A wide variety of such frameworks have evolved over the years, each with its own recognised strengths and weaknesses, and one development methodology framework is not necessarily suitable for use by all projects.
The methods that are used to structure development projects remain a continuous debate that can be argued passionately with no obvious winner. Some projects suit certain methodologies over others, but how can you know which method to use, and which is easier to adopt?
The aim of the 'Development Methodologies' workshop is to go back to basics, learn what methods are available and what other organisations are using. This workshop was attended by 26 delegates representing 18 organisations from a wide cross-section of industries including clothing, confectionary and drinks, global energy, government public safety, healthcare, hospitality and facilities management, infrastructure services, international food group, media, manufacturing, national mapping & geographic data and retail.
