Delivering Data Classification projects that successfully work in practice is very difficult, but it can be done protecting organisations from damaging losses both financial and of brand reputation. This paper outlines the key steps in making such projects work from inception through to daily use by business users
Summary
This report pools the hard won experience of security professionals in designing and implementing data classification projects. The report covers: how to get started, the role of the business, and the critical success factors in implementing a scheme that is readily adopted by business users. A number of examples of Data Classification schemes are included and the report moves on to cover Tools as well as the issues surrounding data sharing with 3rd parties. “The solution is to protect the data itself not just the infrastructure.”
