The topic of consumerisation continues to grow in popularity along with the challenges it produces.  Recent Forum discussions highlighted how there is a changing tide in what employees demand from their employer and it often falls to IT to ensure that this is delivered.

Consumerisation is all about choice, but this choice brings challenges.  How is your organisation dealing with this change?

In July 2011 The Corporate IT Forum conducted a Reality Checker survey that received 132 responses from over 70 organisations.  Key findings show that personal devices allowed on to the corporate network are still rare, 'Apps' are being created for customer use and many respondents have seen, or expect to see, an increase in employee satisfaction where personal devices are allowed.  Contributing organisations represent an annual IT spend of £11.9 billion and employ over 1.5 million people.

Headline findings:

  • Personal Devices still not allowed on network: increasing number planning to
  • Apps being developed for customer use: minority develop for employee use
  • Increase in employee satisfaction biggest impact
  • BlackBerry still device of choice:iPhone and iPad increasing in popularity
  • Country specific contracts are norm for Voice and Data
