Providing the European Commissioner with an insight into the views held by businesses and large public organisations as the primary customers of Cloud Computing.
Summary
In May 2011 The Corporate IT Forum conducted a Reality Checker survey to understand whether large businesses, Euro500, FTSE 250, see a need for a set of European Regulations to cover Cloud Computing.
Summary headlines are:
- Global Legislation preferred: respondents prefer Global and European legislation over country specific rules.
- 'Issues around Data' still main challenge: Lack of EU legislation in 8th place.
- Differing Data Protection laws a barrier: over half of respondents have experienced issues with differing legislation across borders.
- Cloud licensing no different: majority of respondents believe it's similar to 'terrestrial' licensing.
- Disputes set to increase: Security Managers see Data Protection laws increasing complexity.
