Download the Presentation made by one of Evershed's specialist lawyers. This workshop saw 15 delegates from 11 organisations discuss one of corporate IT's perennial hot topics - Data Loss Prevention.
Summary
In November, under increased powers, the Information Commissioner's Office fined two UK organisations; the first £100K for faxing sensitive information to the wrong recipients, and the second a £60K fine for losing an unencrypted laptop. Commenting on his new £500K data loss fine capability, the Information Commissioner emphasised: "Get it wrong and you do substantial harm to individuals and the reputation of your business."
Protecting data permeates nearly all of the challenges and issues facing corporate security teams. The Forum's eCrime survey of 2010 revealed data theft as the highest perceived current and future threat; with Data Protection and regulatory compliance a primary driver of security spend in over 20% of respondent organisations. Yet only 54% have implemented a Data Loss Prevention strategy to date.
Are you concerned about data loss or leakage? Are you managing the risk posed by portable devices or anytime, anywhere apps and systems access? How do you mitigate those concerns in an environment that offers numerous ways for staff to copy or transfer data outside of the corporate setup?
