Download the Executive Summary from this Corporate IT Forum workshop. Government bodies are under pressure to reduce their costs. Often they are in the public spotlight. Two ways this can be achieved are by service sharing within government, and by sharpening the approach to procurement and supplier management.
Summary
There were four presentations, with one being from a private sector organisation. One presentation covered collocation as a shared service offering, another the merger of a number of councils into two unitary councils which then shared services, and the third showed how the use of government frameworks could help reduce procurement costs and how the concept of the intelligent customer could be applied to outsourcing. The final presentation from a private sector organisation demonstrated that small organisations can create effective and cost beneficial approaches to procurement and supplier management, even beating the savings made by much larger organisations in their market sector.
There were 20 representatives from 13 organisations attending this workshop hosted by The Corporate IT Forum, from a wide cross-section of public bodies including councils, government agencies, Crown chartered organisations and a private sector retail organisation.
