In a complex world of changing technologies, organisations are having to work harder to understand how to monitor, manage and reduce their licence costs for software procurement. They also need to know whether their procurement processes are delivering value for money in a globalised world.

Summary

This Forum workshop, attended by supplier, asset and licence managers, procurement officers and IT directors/managers responsible for ensuring value is achieved from their licence agreements, discussed in depth how to make significant software licence savings as well as understand how they can make their software licence procurement more effective and efficient for the future in an ever-changing era of virtualisation, Cloud Computing, Software as a Service and Buy Your Own PC.
The workshop was attended by 22 delegates from 18 organisations covering a wide cross-section of industries, including airlines, engineering and construction, retail, energy, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, government, financial services, aerospace, market research and leisure.
The Agenda, which also featured a presentation by licensing specialist SoftwareONE on centralised software procurement and software contract negotiation, included the following topics:
• Procurement; practical process improvement for complex organisational structures
• Governance, effective measurement and management
• Fit-for-purpose licensing; buying what you need
• Purchase options – direct vs VAR; ensuring value for money
