Cutting cost is a clear driver and goal for 2011
Summary
With the ever changing 'gadget' landscape and with devices becoming more and more 'consumerised', businesses come under siege from consumers and are bombarded by all the virtual opportunities. Embedding an approach that will allow organisations to select and take advantage of the latest crop of technologies is crucial.
Members of The Corporate IT Forum want to understand how Innovation is driven, where organisations are focusing their efforts and whether processes and funding models are mature.
This Reality Checker survey has received 93 respondents from over 50 organisations. Key findings show that Innovation is being focused on mobile devices and cloud applications; the top priority is to nurture an innovative culture and that funding is available to the majority through the normal project funding channels. Contributing organisations represent an annual IT spend of £9.68 billion and employ over 1.2 million people.
Headline findings:
- Innovation is a business wide opportunity: not just for 'ideas' people.
- Focus on consumerisation: Mobile and cloud applications most popular.
- Cutting cost is clear driver and goal for 2011.
- Funding allocated via normal project process: specific budget also set aside.
- Top priority: Nurturing Innovative culture.
- Top challenge: Allowing time and flexibility to innovate.
