External Access to SharePoint |
||
Question
Is your SharePoint infrastructure exposed to the internet and what authentication method do you use?
The majority of authentication strategies were guided by the sensitivity of the data; sensitive data was either not stored or required two factor authentication. 69% of the members responding had allowed external access to their SharePoint environments. Of these, 50% use one factor authentication (username and password), 10% included the use of a PINsafe device and the remaining 40% used a two factor authentication solution using a mixture of RSA SecurID tokens, SiteMinder and Active Directory. Forced password changes were recommended in line with the sensitivity of the data.
