Mergers, Acquisitions & Divestments: Maintaining Service & Delivery Value

Download the Output Report from this Corporate IT Forum workshop.

During this discussion, seven senior IT professionals representing eight organisations shared their combined experience of 41 years. The organisations present represented industries including manufacturing, engineering, utilities and publishing.

Summary

An expert and in-depth presentation was followed by discussion of topics including preparation before the deal, the IT team's role, due diligence, cost estimation, separation and integration, dealing with small or owner-manager acquisitions, transitional service agreements, contracts and licensing, and people, communication and culture. The use of an in-house developed cost estimation model, called the complexity index, was described. This enables the IT costs to be estimated based on a few key factors, and avoids dealmakers making the mythical assumption that IT costs will be of the order of £1m.
