Summary
The Investigating the Path to Successful Innovation workshop enabled members to discuss how the IT function can enable, drive and deliver successful innovation within their organisation.
The workshop was attended by 13 delegates representing ten organisations from a wide cross-section of industries, including pharmaceuticals, government, marketing research, petroleum, transport, retail, telecoms and utilities.
The workshop included a presentation from the Business Risk Consultant of a global pharmaceutical company, who discussed the processes used within the organisation to encourage innovation, and how innovations can be managed, assessed and implemented.
The Business Partner Lead for a global manufacturing organisation also discussed what constitutes successful innovation in an organisation where the basic product offering has not changed for more than forty years.
Topics discussed included:
- How can organisations define innovation?
- What strategies are most effective at encouraging innovation?
- How should innovation be recognised and rewarded?
- Can the results of innovation be measured and valued by organisations
