Managing & Benchmarking Offshore Suppliers of Application Development

According to sourcing advisory firm TPI the UK has overtaken the US to become the leading national marketfor new outsourcing contracts with 81% of large companies planning to increase their offshore outsourcing over the next two to three years. Application Development (AD) appears to remain outside commercially-available benchmarking services, previous tif. events have concluded that AD has historically been tricky to benchmark. Within the wider developing offshore marketplace, there are currently no agreed standards for contracts, models or sets of metrics which can be used to measure the service received. Lack of a real set of best practices creates problems in managing these contracts from a distance, and leaves organisations without guidelines or valid benchmarks.This workshop shared experiences of offshoring (mainly to India) where the relationship with the supplier had matured.
