The Mobile Organisation - Wireless Connectivity & Reliability

Summary

Secure, reliable, wireless communication has been the objective of many ICT projects this year, with organisations in almost all industry sectors experiencing increases in their remote and mobile workforces. But with technologies continuously evolving, the market is far from mature and the decision to adopt a particular approach is a difficult and complex one. In this workshop the Mobile Segment Manager with a utility company, introduced delegate discussion by appraising the progress of his organisation's quest to deliver global connectivity to a remote workforce of 1,200 employees worldwide; from early trials with GPRS & 3G, through wireless and cable broadband services to current work with satellite technology.
