Collaborative Working Strategies - It's People not the Technology

A number of businesses are beginning to use tools widely used outside work, as a means to deliver better business performance inside work through improved collaboration. The aim is to unlock skills, knowledge and experience across the organisation for both business and employee benefit.

This seminar was led by an independent external consultant with extensive experience in introducing collaborative working processes in major companies.

Summary

Collaboration involves changes to established ways of working and is more complex than it first appears; the main issues revolve around people, business culture and trust. The reports from this seminar deal with these issues in depth. This is a new world and it cannot be built using the rules of the old one. The discussion is highlighted by a wealth of case examples and moves through creating the right climate, particularly around the people and management issues, developing the business case, to implementing an Enterprise wide Collaboration Strategy and the governance and security issues it raises. "You don't change the business through the use of tools: you change it through processes and behaviour - the technology is secondary."

Participating Organisations

This was attended by 8 thought leaders from a variety of IT disciplines in 7 large private and public sector organisations.
