Cloud Expert Question Time

Euan Semple will be chairing this hour-long session where delegates will be able to put their questions to a panel of cloud industry experts including:

Sean Poulley, Vice President for the Online Collaboration Business, IBM

Sean has been responsible establishing the strategy for online collaboration and for setting up and heading this Business unit for IBM over the last 15 months. Besides the responsibility of managing the Business Worldwide he has also spearheaded key acquisitions in the SAAS portfolio for IBM including WebDialogs (web conferencing) and Outblaze (web based email). Prior to this role Sean has served in Senior Leadership positions at IBM as Vice President for Business Development for Workplace, Portal & Collaboration. In his previous role he held similar responsibilities for the Websphere brand specifically focused on Websphere Business Integration.

Darren Ratcliffe, Chief Architect for Infrastructure as a Service at Fujitsu UK&I
With over 15 years experience in the IT industry, specialising in working with enterprise customers across EMEA to address the challenges of large scale computing and data centre efficiency improvements through consolidation, streamlining and virtualisation. More recently using this experience to develop utility based offerings culminating in today’s Fujitsu trusted cloud offerings

Simon Wardley, Software Services Manager, Canonical

Responsible for Cloud Computing Strategy at Canonical, the main sponsors and supporters of Ubuntu. Canonical is the first linux distribution to launch a private cloud solution which enables users to create their own clouds that match the Amazon EC2 & S3 API (see http://www.ubuntu.com/cloud).
Using Ubuntu, users are able to mix public and private systems to create hybrid clouds, hence maximising the benefits of cloud whilst mitigating many of the transitional and outsourcing risks.
His areas of responsibility include cloud computing strategy, the development of the cloud offerings, engagements with major companies and evangelism.

Andy Steven, Enterprise Cloud Architect, VMWare 

Andy is responsible for discussing the Enterprise Cloud  journey with EMEA VMware customers, he has over 8 years virtualisation experience and has been involved in small to very large VMware deployments. Key experience has been in regulated computing environments and the processes that need to change in the data centre for a successful deployment. Previous positions in VMware have included Senior Evangelist, before that Andy was a customer of VMware virtualising data centres all over the world for a large multinational organisation.
