Social & Financial Responsibilities of the Corporate IT Department

The Forum's 2011 Sustainable IT Survey showed that opinion on where leadership should come from has changed dramatically - it has moved away from viewing the Government as having prime responsibility and now nearly two thirds believe the lead should come from the business users themselves.

Summary:

With environmental disasters and climate change continually topping international news, and energy costs and efficiency and landfill capacity hitting the headlines at home, business sustainability - and the role and impact of IT - logically remains a key issue for members. However, with budgets continuing to be restricted, the level of priority that organisations apply can be difficult to maintain.

Many have already harvested low hanging fruit such as paper and print waste management and automated device power-saving. The focus for members now combines optimising the data centre, with organisation-wide energy (and therefore cost-saving) initiatives and pushing sustainability as a core competence across their supply chain and supplier portfolio.

Speakers:

Warkickshire County Council

Objectives:

To share knowledge and learn from the experience of corporate IT peers. Consider where programs of Sustainable IT can be successfully implemented - saving costs while achieving aims in sustainability.

Who should attend:

Architects, strategists and other senior IT professionals with a responsibility for or interest in the success of sustainability in corporate IT.

Agenda:

  • Presentation by Warwickshire County Council - Eco-cooling
