Private Social Networks: Enhancing User Productivity

Corporate IT Forum workshops are requested by and specifically designed for IT professionals striving for best practice in the corporate environment. Free from supplier involvement, delegates receive real-world information from experienced and unbiased peers.

The recent member question 'Private Social Networks' asked members about their experience of using applications such as Yammer, Jive and Chatter. The questioner was looking for a solution that could be used not only within an enterprise, but potentially extended externally to customers and partners.

Summary:

Any solution would rival existing collaboration platforms such as SharePoint or the company Intranet.  Several members have stated their reservations around the management challenges of implementing 'free' versions.  Offering the capability is not sufficient on its own and ongoing promotion, a private social network is unlikely to become an organisation-wide winner.

Objectives:

Share practical corporate experience of selection, implementation and usage.

Who should attend:

Senior IT strategists, architects, managers and practitioners involved in large scale corporate collaborations initiatives.

Agenda:

The final agenda will be developed through consultation amongst delegates - provisional discussion areas include:

  • Recommendations and learning points for creating and maintaining a ‘must have/must use’ tool
  • Deriving value – realising benefits
  • Implementing tools
